Welcome

“Summer wanes, autumn approaches.  Swallows swoop and gather in the sky.  The air smells of fallen apples.  Goldenrod is everywhere.  The sunlight, too, is golden, like the stubble in the fields.  Liquid and tender, now it warms our backs, not our heads.  Amid the late ripeness, nature begins the process of withering and fading away.  At night, a chill is in the air . . .” Christopher Bamford,  Cosmo Doogood’s Urban Almanac

Can you feel it?  Change is creeping in.  Autumn is approaching with it’s welcome restoration of back to school rhythms, scents of apples & cinnamon in the kitchen, and crisp mornings which demand us to search for long sleeves.  Along with these, Novalis Institute is eager to announce our 2010-11 schedule.  On our “Classes” page you can find details for journeys into Waldorf festival life, black & white drawing, music, meditation and more.  You will also discover both familiar faculty faces and fresh ones.

We invite you all to participate in the richness of our classes this year.  We have something to offer everyone, whether you seek personal development, artistic experiences, a deeper understanding of Rudolf Steiner’s work, or a glimpse into your child’s school life.  Participating in these classes brings an enlivened sense of community with those around you.  Please come!

ABOUT US

Novalis Institute provides adult education for personal inner development within a supportive community. Courses are designed to provide a strong foundation in inner work as a basis for our work in the world, ongoing training in the arts, and the education of young people. The philosophical basis of Novalis Institute are the teachings of Rudolf Steiner, the founder of anthroposophy.

Our curriculum is provided by local and national faculty who provide a program of study that balances experiential learning, artistic practice, intellectual and spiritual development and academic study. Our intention is to enhance the educational experience through the vital context of a community that is developed as participants learn together.

All courses are designed to facilitate inner development and are open to the public. For participants who seek Waldorf teacher certification, Novalis Institute offers all the courses typically required as preparation for teacher training coursework. The Foundation Studies program coursework can be completed in two to three years of part time study.
